ALPACA go for launch!

Early Literacy Starts here. An image showing the ALPACA logo. ALPACA stands for Assessing Letter and Phonemic Awareness Class Assistant. Microlink in partnership with ALPACA Assessment in Ireland to make the screening tool available to all English Primary Schools

Detecting literacy challenges at the onset of phonemic awareness

We have 1100 children in 50 Reception classes from over 30 schools signed up already: There is still time to join this exciting and innovative pilot!

This is a shout-out to Infants/Junior Headteachers and SENCos in England.

So… a Reception-age child plays a 20-minute game on a tablet… absolutely loves it, really engaged… it’s fun. The teacher immediately gets data that highlights strengths and needs at the onset of phonic awareness.

Early interventions can then be planned well before the Year 1 Phonics Test.

We feel that this is a game-changer.

Microlink is in partnership with ALPACA Assessment in Ireland to launch a National Pilot in England starting in September.

We already have over 1000 children across 31 school communities lined up to begin.

Set-up, administration and screening is ridiculously easy. Participating schools get free use of the tool for the whole academic year. It is certainly not too late to join the pilot.
