Microlink was founded 30 years ago on the grounded principles of people focused solutions to overcoming barriers to working and learning by two entrepreneurs with disabilities themselves.
Using the social model of disability as a guiding compass, Microlink pioneered the streamlining of assessment solutions and support to the benefit of any person with a disability in the workplace.
In 2011 CEO Dr Nasser Siabi was awarded an OBE for his contribution in helping over 300,000 disabled people transition from education into work. By 2024, the number has risen to well over 500,000.
Our commitment to social and societal change goes well beyond contracted services to businesses and corporates:
- Microlink Education was established in 2022, with an aim “to create pathways of opportunity from the classroom to the boardroom” for every young person, whatever the barrier to learning and living
- Representation, consultation, advice and guidance given to:
- Participation as Subject Matter Experts on Government All-Party Parliamentary Committees
- Representation on Working Parties NGOs and Steering Groups such as NDTi Supportive Internships, DFN Project Search, PurpleSpace and Business Disability Forum
- Working with local and regional Job Centres to set up employer days and mentoring programmes
- Working closely with the Disability Confident team in the Department for Work and Pensions to create and deliver a range of free webinars to support the development of Disability Confident business practice
- Dr Nasser Siabi was a founding Director of CSPOC, a United Nations accredited, not-for-profit NGO, that acts as a conduit for ideas and resources in local communities by providing the means for individuals and groups to sustain their own development. ·
- We platform and promote Thought Leadership which challenges existing practice and hegemonies, creates new approaches to entrenched problems and promotes/develops the social model of disability
- We live our values – we’re proud that between 40 to 50% of our staff have declared some form of disability.
